Wheal Betsy engine house, near Mary Tavey on the edge of Dartmoor north of Tavistock. Primarily a tin mine but also produced lead, zinc and silver until it closed in 1877. The ‘leaning tower’ is famous, thought to be due to 200 years of prevailing wind.

Photographer: Simon McBride
