Highland Dancing

Collections freely admits that we know nothing about Highland dancing. However these pictures were all taken at Highland Gatherings, or Games, which surely qualify as customs, and Highland Dancing is regarded in these as a fiercely competitive sport, on a par with piping and tossing the caber. Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, on the Firth of Clyde, is the big one and competitors come from all over the world, though Collections has to complain that two uninterrupted days of bagpipes does a non-Scottish head in and it takes weeks to clear the brain!
